First let me begin by saying how much we enjoyed last years race . Meeting Kevin and some of the people that post here. I also want to say that any person that does go will have nothing but great memories of that incredible weekend no matter where you place . I would encourage anyone even thinking of attending to please do so. We had 3 teams travel from SW. Florida last years and since 2 teams have moved to Cadets the 3rd team is planning to attend again this year and might be joined by another team.
Last and most important ALL THE KIDS that attend are WINNERS and all the Kids that race every weekend at all the tracks are WINNERS . Try and remember as parents that " Kids just wanna to have fun and let Karting be another way for them to have fun".
GOOD LUCK to all that Attend . Don and Hunter

How many kids are at the KKN race? I was looking at the website for this race and they were talking about last chance qualifying races. Do they actually eliminate kid karts based on speed? Long way to travel and not make the show.

One of the neat things about this event is it is all Kids Kart . So the whole weekend is full of racing . All Kids get into the race but just like upper class kart racing you have qualifying then heat races and your starting position in heat races is determined by qualifying times . Final feature race line up is determined by finishing order of heat races . tech is done after each segment and if you fail tech then you run Last Chance race to figure out the remaining starting order . All Kids Race regardless . Last year there were approx 30 Karts. They run 2 divisions Restricted and non-restricted . All in all I figured we ran over 150 laps over the weekend, So there is plenty of practice and racing and it does get fast paced . Majority of the karts ran Non restricted. Hope this helps .

I hear all the time from customers and other racers just how great their young drivers are and how they win locally every weekend. This is a wonderful thing. But there is no greater chance to prove how good you are, or maybe to see how much you need to improve than the Kid Kart National Championships. Three days of just Kid Kart practice and racing against what I believe is truly the best in the entire Nation. There are some tremendously talented drivers and teams that will be in attendance and it is always a great weekend put on by a bunch of dedicated racers and staff of the SLKA.
Please DON’T BE intimidated by all the hype and claims from other sites. You DO NOT NEED TO SPEND $2,500 - $3,500 ON AN ENGINE, NOR DO YOU NEED A SPECIFIC BRAND CHASSIS TO DO WELL at this race. That is simply BS. We came from the last starting position and finished 3rd in 2007 on a THREE (3) year old Margay chassis with an engine that was built in a 2-car garage. Everyone that gets caught up in the hype, and spends tons of money to race this event ALWAYS REGRETS it. If you don’t believe me shoot me and email and I can give you a long list of names and phone numbers so you can confirm that. Guys buying magical $500 heads or engines builders Claim are “set up specifically for the KKN Track” to get there and come home disappointed. I will say you need to ensure that everything about your engine and chassis is 100% legal and be prepared to prove it. The stuff that you may get away with at your local track will get you DQ’d here. They reason tech is so thorough is at the end of the weekend, we truly want to know who the best is. There is a lot of stuff that goes into race as you all know; driver skill, chassis set up, engine performance and lady luck can save you, or crush your dreams. All that being said, the objective is to have FUN, meet new friends and come away with a positive experience.
We are proud to once again be the title sponsor and look forward to seeing everyone there.
